CJ19 Series Switching Capacitor Contactors

Serial Number: CJ19 Series
The CJ19 series switching capacitor contactors (hereinafter referred to as contactors) are primarily designed for use in AC power circuits with frequencies of 50 Hz or 60 Hz and rated operating voltages up to 380V. They are employed to connect or disconnect low-voltage shunt capacitors in low-voltage reactive power compensation equipment. Equipped with inrush current suppression devices, these contactors effectively minimize the impact of closing-inrush currents on the capacitors and help control overvoltages generated during circuit breaking.

Product Overview

The CJ19 series switching capacitor contactors (hereinafter referred to as contactors) are primarily designed for use in AC power circuits with frequencies of 50 Hz or 60 Hz and rated operating voltages up to 380V. They are employed to connect or disconnect low-voltage shunt capacitors in low-voltage reactive power compensation equipment. Equipped with inrush current suppression devices, these contactors effectively minimize the impact of closing-inrush currents on capacitors and help control overvoltages generated during circuit breaking.

Structural Features

The contactor features a direct-acting, double-break structure. Its contact system is arranged in two layers—upper and lower. The upper layer includes three pairs of contacts paired with current-limiting resistors, forming an inrush-current suppression device. When the contactor closes, these initial contacts connect first; after a few milliseconds, the main working contacts then engage. Meanwhile, the permanent magnetic blocks within the current-limiting contacts are released under spring tension, automatically disconnecting the current-limiting resistors and allowing the capacitor to operate normally. A wiring diagram of the contactor’s internal circuitry is shown below. The CJ19-25-43 contactor comes equipped with two pairs of auxiliary contacts, while the CJ19-63-95 model includes three pairs of auxiliary contacts. All wiring terminals of the contactors are covered with insulating caps for enhanced safety and reliability. Additionally, the coil terminals are clearly marked with voltage specifications to prevent incorrect connections. The CJ19-25-43 contactor can be mounted either directly using screws or securely fastened onto a standard 35mm DIN rail via its bottom-mounted slider mechanism. On the front panel, there’s a removable rectangular label where users can easily print project codes or other relevant information. As for the CJ19-63-95 model, it supports installation on either standard 35mm or 75mm DIN rails.

Working Conditions

The ambient air temperature ranges from -5°C to +40°C, with an average not exceeding +35°C over any 24-hour period.
Altitude: Not exceeding 2000m;
Atmospheric conditions: At +40°C, the relative humidity of the air does not exceed 50%; at lower temperatures, higher relative humidity levels are permissible, with the average minimum temperature of the wettest month not exceeding +25°C and the average maximum relative humidity for that month remaining below 90%. Additionally, condensation caused by temperature fluctuations on the product must be taken into account.
Pollution Level: Level 3;
Installation Category: Level 3;
Installation conditions: The installation surface must have a tilt angle of no more than +5° relative to the vertical plane. Impact and vibration: The product should be installed and used in an environment free from significant shaking, impact, or vibration.
