BSMJ Power Supply Capacitor

Serial Number: BSMJ-0.45-15-3
Color: Silver Dimensions: 167 × 57 × 205 mm Installation Dimensions: 185 × 40 mm Rated Voltage: 230V, 250V, 400V, 450V, 525V, 690V, 750V, 1050V, 1200V; other voltages available upon special order. Rated Capacity: 1–60 kVAR for systems rated at 0.4–0.69 kV; capacities for other voltage levels will be determined separately. Rated Frequency: 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Capacity Tolerance: -5% to ±10%. Dissipation Factor: At 20°C, tanδ ≤ 0.1%. Withstand Voltage: Between poles, withstand 2.15 times the rated voltage for 10 seconds; between pole terminals and case, withstand 2Un or 2 kV, whichever is higher, for 10 seconds, with no permanent breakdown or flashover occurring. Maximum Permissible Overvoltage: - Up to 1.1 times the rated voltage, not exceeding 8 hours within any 24-hour period; - Up to 1.5 times the rated voltage, not exceeding 30 minutes within any 24-hour period; - Up to 1.2 times the voltage, not exceeding 5 minutes; - At 1.3 times the voltage, not more than 1 minute. Maximum Permissible Current: The current shall not exceed 1.3 times the rated current. Considering factors such as overvoltage, positive capacitance deviation, and harmonic effects, the maximum transient overcurrent should not surpass 1.43 times the rated current. Connection Methods: Available in △ (delta) connection, Y (star) connection, -Y (star) connection with neutral point lead-out, Sichuan three-section configuration, single-phase configuration, and other customized connection types based on user requirements. Self-Discharge Performance: Within 3 minutes after power disconnection, the residual voltage of the capacitor drops from √2Un to below 50V. Compliance Standards: GB/T 12747-2004, IEC 60831:2012

Scope of Use

Self-healing low-voltage shunt capacitors are suitable for low-voltage power systems operating at frequencies of 50Hz or 60Hz. They are primarily used to improve the power factor, reduce reactive power losses, enhance voltage quality, and increase transformer capacity. These capacitors are also recognized as the nation’s recommended top energy-saving product.

Working Conditions

After the capacitor is disconnected from power, it must be ensured that its residual voltage drops to 10% of the rated voltage before it can be put back into operation—this typically takes about 200 seconds. Therefore, the controller should be selected with features for re-energization and interlock timing. If a standard controller is used instead, a fast-discharge device must be installed. However, this restriction does not apply to equipment equipped with equipotential switches. The altitude should not exceed 2000 meters. The ambient temperature category is -25°C/C, with a minimum temperature of -25°C and a maximum temperature category C (not exceeding 50°C; the average temperature over any 24-hour period must remain below 40°C, while the annual average temperature should not surpass 30°C). Finally, capacitors must be operated under proper ventilation conditions. It is strictly prohibited to use them in enclosed, non-ventilated spaces.
